Justin loves animals and the Open Door Animal Sanctuary (ODAS) was the organization he chose for his mitzvah project. He specifically chose this animal sanctuary because it is a no-kill shelter. ODAS is dedicated to preserving animals' life and health by providing shelter, food and veterinary care, while fostering their social skills and encouraging their adoption into loving homes. full story >

Going green for mitzvah project

For his mitzvah project, Jason Roodman, a student at John Burroughs School, decided to hold an electronics recycling drive, which collected around 20 tons of equipment to recycle.

When Jason was presented with the question of what he wanted to devote his bar mitzvah project to he didn't have to think twice — he immediately knew that he wanted to do something for the environment. As Jason puts it, "if we all don't begin working at protecting our Earth now, there will not be an Earth as we know it for future generations." full story >

It all started when one of his cousins was diagnosed with leukemia when she was only three years old. Peter A. Sixty of Ryan's friends joined him at a fun-filled evening at SkyZone to help him raise money for teens suffering from Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
