Program offers support after the loss of spouse

National Council of Jewish Women- St. Louis begins a new session of the Jean Stein Bloch Wife Widow Woman support group for recently widowed women in November. The goal of this program is to bridge the gap between grief and growth, reducing the sense of isolation experienced from the loss of a spouse. The Jean Stein Bloch Wife Widow Women program helps participants on their personal journey to becoming more independent single women after living as a couple. “People who are experiencing [similar] emotions are able to be the most supportive as one rebuilds after a loss,” said program chair Eleanor Rosenbaum.

The program gives participants a safe place to talk about the issues that they may be unable to discuss with family and friends.

All recently widowed women are welcome to participate and may be of any age, race or religious background. There is no cost to join the group as it is generously underwritten by Nardie and Sally Stein, Berger Memorial and Susan Turken.

The next session begins Feb. 4 at the NCJW offices at 295 N. Lindbergh Blvd. in Creve Coeur.  Space is very limited and participants must pre-register before Jan. 30 in order to join the group, which meets twice a month, 10:30 a.m. to noon through April.
