Embracing feminism on the 14th

Valentines

Jewish Women International (JWI) has a line of feminist-leaning Valentine’s Day messages. Its website, www.jwi.org/valentines, offers a choice of Valentine e-cards, each at $5. Some of the “romantic” social action topics tackled include equal pay, reproductive choice and paid work leave.

Jewish Women International (JWI) has a line of feminist-leaning Valentine’s Day messages to celebrate love on Feb. 14. The organization suggests that instead of the usual, “I Love You” why not say “Consent: It Takes Two to Tango”? Why say “You’re Cute” when you could say “You’re Strong” or “Thank You for Being an Ally to Women”?

The mission of JWI is to empower women and girls as it works to ensure that they thrive in healthy relationships, control their financial futures and realize the full potential of their personal strength.
